Early formation of fascicular cambium

Results in the appearance of protrusions on the stem surface

Cross-section of the stem of clover (Trifolium sp.) at the early stage of secondary growth. Only the fascicular cambium is formed. The secondary vascular tissues produced by the cambium compressed the cortex in regions over vascular bundles and caused the appearance of "ribs" on the stem surface.

Identify stem tissues.
